A sneak Peak into Ruboni Organic Coffee Farmers Association, who we are & the Community we Operate in.
Howdy, welcome to this blog, and if you are here, you are most likely aware of what Tom’s Green Coffee Stands for.
First, we are here a serve you. A reliable brand that serves our clientele with 100% Pure Organic Coffee, sustainably grown from the foothills of mountain Rwenzori, towards Kasese, in Western Uganda.
As a way to empower our farmers, Tom’s Green Coffee SMC (TGC) Limited, mothered what is now called Ruboni Organic Coffee Farmer’s Association (ROCFA), a ‘members only’ non-profit organisation that brings together farmers who not only grow healthy chemical free red cherries on the Rwenzori foothills, but also nurtures, empowers and works hand in hand with the locals and the company, in order to achieve mutual objectives.
Our core values include; humanity, teamwork, professionalism, effectiveness & efficiency, leadership, integrity and equity. In a broader detail, these values are stated below;
Humanity
Humanity is at the forefront of our values. In all our operations, ROCFA aims to ensure that there is no oppression and impartiality.
Teamwork
Working together for the common good of the community and the organization.
Professionalism
ROCFA ensures continuous professional development of staff for effective service delivery.
Effectiveness & Efficiency
We aspire to achieve ultimate effectiveness and be efficient in all our endeavours.
Leadership
Sound leadership that embraces sharing at all levels.
Integrity
Integrity is our guide. ROCFA upholds openness, transparency and responsibility in all its undertakings.
Equity
As ROFCA, we operate on a non-descriminatory basis and a gender-bias free responsiveness. Members of our organisation receive equal attention and opportunities, holistically.
Our Clients and Farmers
While our clients (final buyers) are happy with organic coffee, we also want to ensure that the people, the farmers on the ground, are happy as they grow the coffee. The happier the whole ecosystem, the better for us all. Our association (ROCFA), consists of fifty one member and their families, who are all working hand in hand to give the world tastier, chemical-free coffee, while also making progress and having happier, healthier livelihoods for themselves and their households. Unlike our competitors in the Ruboni Community, who buy all sorts of coffee, our community prioritizes organic coffee, and is centered around satisfaction of not only our clients at the end of the chain, but also our farmers at the start of the chain. The farmers each have a family, which on average consists of at least seven members.
Members of our association also range from youths to the elderly, ages between twenty five (25) years old to over sixty eight (68) years old. In other articles, we’ll be sharing stories of some of our local farmers in the Ruboni Organic Coffee Farmers Association, which we believe will impact you – ‘dear reader’ and client, positively in one way or another. We also invite you to interact with us on various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and even professional platforms such as LinkedIn.
The Community we Operate in Ruboni is a small township that sits on the foothills of Mountain Rwenzori. Our founder Tom Ceze discovered Ruboni while on a hiking adventure; on the Mountains of the Moon ‘Rwenzori’ ranges, and the weather, and hospitality of Ruboni’s Community captured his heart. Thus the start of thise amazing venture, taking 100% organic Arabica coffee to the world.
The rest is now history.
